RECOMMENDATIONS
The following items are available at local marine supply stores. The major suppliers like Bliss, E&B, West Marine, Marine Speculator, and Marine Exchange typically have the best prices. Shop around for the best prices.
| Mushroom Anchor: | Bigger is better - don't scrimp. Typical cost is $1/lb. |
| Chain: | Chrome plates is OK. Galvanized is highly recommended. |
| Shackles: | Galvanized with screw type pins. Pins must be wired (moused) with copper wire to remain secured. Cotter pins wear out. |
| Swivels: | Galvanized with welded bolt/nut. |
| Pennant: | Recommend Nylon pennant with a thimble spliced at one end for chain swivel, and eye splice at the other end to fit over the boat's deck clear or bridle. |
| Scope: | Length of chain and pennant should equal to 1-1/12 times the depth of water in our mooring area. |
| Mooring Buoy: | White with blue band/stripe or Orange Fishnet Ball. Cost is approximately $25-$50 |
| Pick-Up Buoy (optional): | Great for picking up your mooring under sail. Cost is approximately $25-$35. |
